US$448.80 million Contract signed for motorway PPP project in Netherlands

The Ministry of Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat) has awarded Fluor Corporation a EUR414 million (US$448.80 million) contract for the development of the A27 motorway project in the Netherlands.
Under the contract, the company's Joint Venture will be responsible for the design, construction and maintenance services for the A27 motorway project from Everdingen to Hooipolder. The JV which consists of Ballast Nedam and ALSÉÉN is responsible for:
- widening 25 miles (40 Km) of the existing A27 motorway;
- repairing the Hooipolder junction;
- replacing the Merwede and Keizersveer bridges; and
- connecting the roadway to the future Groote Haar business park in Gorinchem.
ALSÉÉN and Rijkswaterstaat are going to develop this 2-phase contract and two-thirds of the scope of work includes full site investigations, complete design packages, advanced work packaging and negotiated subcontracts. After completion, Ballast Nedam and Fluor are expected to maintain the highway for 15 years.
This project work is scheduled to begin in 2023 and is anticipated completion from 2029 to 2031.
