Albania to release tender for Romano Port project
23 January 2023
The Government of Albania is now preparing to release a tender for the first development phase of the new Porto Romano infrastructure project.
The tender will be based on a Construct & Finance approach, primarily concerning marine works and port infrastructure (breakwater/revetments, dredging & reclamation, quay wall and container terminal yard facilities).
In order to provide potentially interested bidders with the opportunity to gain further insights into this project and the upcoming Construct & Finance tender, a Pre-tender Meeting will be held in Tirana, Albania on Wednesday, 1 February 2023 (4:00 PM CET).
Last summer, Royal HaskoningDHV together with their local partner Abkons presented the plans for the new port of Durrës at Porto Romano.
Under this ambitious modernisation and expansion plan, the current cargo handling activities within the Port of Durrës will be gradually transferred to Porto Romano. At the same time, the Port Authority, as a landlord entity, will expand to encompass both ports.
The new seaport will use the latest in Green Ports and automation technologies and will be interconnected with the rail network as well as road infrastructure.
