Vinci Highways takes controlling stake in 570km São Paulo motorway
3 December 2022
Vinci Highways has acquired a 55% stake in the Entrevias motorway that crosses São Paulo State from north to south.
The 25-year concession includes two sections with a total length of 570km that recorded around 30 million toll fares last year.
The requires Vinci to operate and maintain the road and take over a project, already under way, to widen one section from two to four lanes over 210km of its length. This is expected to complete in 2025.
Vinci acquired the equity from the Brazilian asset manager Patria. The deal is expected to be completed next year.
Vinci said the deal strengthened its position in Brazil following its acquisition of Salvador de Bahia Airport in 2017 and of seven Amazonian airports in 2021.
It said: “This operation allows Vinci Highways, already operating in Colombia and Peru, to continue developing its presence in Latin America by taking positions in São Paulo, Brazil’s most populated state, which generates over a third of the country’s gross domestic product”.
