ViTO has joined in the Qatar’s natural gas field expansion project
10 November 2022
ViTO Construction announced in a statement that it has selected as a subcontractor in the 3ʳᵈ quarter of 2022 for the North Field Expansion (NFE) project carried out in the industrial city, Ras Laffan and led by the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) company, Qatargas Operating Company Limited OPCO.
The company just signed an EPC contract worth over $100 million for the construction of storage tanks in this project during a period of 36 months, in cooperation with Técnicas Reunidas, the main contractor of the project under the EPC-3 package.
In the said project, as ViTO, we will provide with the creation of 8 tanks, including 3 double-walled LPG tanks, 2 MEG (mono-ethylene glycol) tanks, 2 naphtha tanks and 1 condensate tank, thereby creating a total storage capacity of 600 thousand m³ by carrying out EPC contract basis as engineering, purchasing and construction.
Particularly when examining the LPG tank constructions, it can be said that the external equipment of double-walled LPG tanks is mostly made of reinforced concrete, and steel material is preferred for the internal equipment. There are a rare number of tanks with both steel hardware, and only a limited number of companies, especially the world’s leading companies in the energy sector such as McDermott, IHI, Samsung that have the capacity to offer this modern design. ViTO is one of the few companies in Turkey and in the world that holds such technical knowledge and expertise to construct the relevant kind.
As ViTO, providing high-level services to its customers in the fields of EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction), we have undertaken the tasks of constructing 5 million m³ tanks in the last 10 years, and we have succeeded in completing such tasks with the hydraulic jack system, beyond the current technology with high quality and zero lost time incidents. Our organization, which has been carrying out turnkey EPC projects in the oil, gas and energy sectors for 22 years, reached a total of 10 million man-hours in 8 years with zero lost time injuries and the awareness of HSE. At the same time, it has achieved success in various projects both on global and local scales by collaborating with many large organizations from Siemens to SOCAR, and Saipem to Shanghai Electric. Now, we are very proud to take part in this mega project of Qatar, which maintains its top position in natural gas.
