USD311.14 million refinancing agreement signed for 4G highway concession in Colombia

The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), Colombia has announced the signing of a COP1.4 billion (US$311.14 million) refinancing agreement for the Vías del Nus project in Medellín, Colombia.
The refinancing agreement was reached with Bancolombia, Banco de Bogotá, Banco de Occidente and the Institute for the Development of Antioquia (IDEA). The financing will help Vías del Nus Concession, in charge of the project to improve the conditions and operating costs of the project.
The highway concession is a part of a 4G program and involves the development of a 157.4 km long highway connecting Medellín and 10 Antioquia municipalities in the area of influence, including Bello, Copacabana, Girardota, Barbosa, Donmatías, Santo Domingo, Santa Rosa de Osos, Cisneros, San Roque and Maceo. The scope of the project also includes the Bankruptcy Tunnel, made up of two tubes, each 4.2 km long which will help in the reduction of 1.5 hours in travel times between Medellín and the municipality of Cisneros.
The project is in operation since December 2021 and had a construction investment of COP1.3 billion (US$288.91 million) and estimates an additional COP2.5 billion (US$555.61 million) for its operation and maintenance stage.
