Colas wins Panama monorail contract
7 August 2022
French infrastructure specialist Colas has won a contract to design, supply and install 100km of rail to line 3 of the Panama metro.
The monorail will link stations between Ciudad del Futuro and Panama Pacifico, with a maintenance depot in Ciudad del Futuro.
Colas Rail is acting as a subcontractor for Hitachi Rail, with work on the project due to take over 30 months.
Christophe Mansuy, Colas Rail’s international vice president, said: “The project is remarkable in several ways. First, it is the result of a working partnership with Hitachi Rail in the Americas. Secondly, for the first time, Colas Rail is participating in a monorail project.
“Lastly, the contract marks the launch of our business in Panama, illustrating our desire to continue expanding in Latin America.”
