China’s CIMC Enric Holdings Ltd announced that its subsidiary, Nantong CIMC Energy Equipment Co Ltd, has won an order for 3,000 storage and transport containers for uranium hexafluoride from an undisclosed European customer. This order is the largest single order that CIMC Enric has received in the nuclear fuel transport container business to date, the company said. It also set a new record for the international nuclear fuel transport container industry.

Nantong Energy, based in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, , was established in 2007. In 2011, the company applied for and obtained a "Civil Nuclear Safety Equipment Manufacturing Licence" from China’s National Nuclear Safety Administration, with the relevant nuclear-grade equipment manufacturing qualification. In 2015, the company partnered with several domestic design institutes to develop AP1000 new fuel transport containers. The company said that, by mastering the core technology for new fuel transport containers, it had broken the monopoly of foreign companies.

Currently, CIMC Enric provides two main types of nuclear power equipment: components for NPPs and containers for nuclear fuel storage and transport. "With world-leading manufacturing technology, CIMC Enric has successfully supplied equipment for hundreds of nuclear power plants and thousands of nuclear fuel transport containers," a statement said. The company specialises in the development, production and sale of low-temperature nuclear fuel storage and transportation equipment, high-security nuclear power equipment, high-pressure gas cylinders and other products. Nantong Energy can provide customers with full cycle and complete process system solutions. The main products are cryogenic tank containers, cryogenic tankers and nuclear fuel transport containers.
