Vietnam prepares to launch a tender for USD307 million airport PPP project
3 June 2022
The Government of Vietnam through its Civil Aviation Authority has plans to launch a procurement process for the SaPa airport PPP project located in Cam Con Commune.
Recently, Central Government and Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee approved the feasibility study for the project, according to which the procurement process will be carried out without a pre-qualification process. The investor firm for the airport project will be selected via an open bidding process and the participants will be limited to local companies.
The SaPa airport PPP will be developed in two phases. Phase I includes the construction works for the terminal and runway facilities. The terminal will have an operating capacity to serve 1.5 million passengers per year which is expected to rise up to 3 million by the end of the second phase.
The VND7 trillion (USD307 million) airport project will be located 100 kilometers from Sa Pa on a land parcel covering 371 hectares. The airport will be used for civil and military purposes and will feature an interchange connection with Hanoi-Lao Cai Expressway.
