US engineer Bechtel has launched a manufacturing and technology division to meet market demand for engineering, procurement and construction services in the semiconductor, electric vehicle, synthetic materials and data centre sectors.
In the semiconductor market, Bechtel will offer supply chain assessments, pre-front-end engineering design studies, engineering services, project execution and commissioning.
For the electric vehicles sector, it will work with battery makers on feasibility studies, front-end engineering, and detailed design through construction.
Bechtel notes that it has previously collaborated with companies such as IBM and Tritel on data centres and associated communications network equipment including programme management, engineering, procurement and construction.
For the synthetic materials market, Bechtel will work on manufacturing facility design, programme management, project scaling and engineering services.
Brendan Bechtel, the company’s chairman (pictured), said: “Bechtel is embracing the challenge of developing resilient supply chains for the world’s most advanced technologies.
“The manufacturing and technology business will design, build and integrate the complex components that make up these facilities and deliver solutions quickly to market.”
