Thiess awarded two mining services contracts in Queensland

Thiess today announced it has secured two mining services contracts in Queensland, Australia with a combined revenue of approximately $200 million.
The mining services contracts will help extract and deliver essential resources that support global steel production and electrification. They include:
· A three-year contract with Austral Resources at the Anthill Copper Project near Mount Isa to mine overburden and copper ore.
· A 12-month contract extension to its existing contract with BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) for the provision of mining and maintenance services at Caval Ridge Mine near Moranbah.
Thiess Executive Chairman and CEO Michael Wright said: “These contracts reflect Thiess’ ability to deliver value for our clients, providing competitive and sustainable mining solutions across a diversified portfolio of projects. We will bring a strong focus on the local community as we undertake these exciting projects.”
Thiess Executive General Manager Australia Shaun Newberry said: “We’re pleased to be working with Austral Resources and continuing our strong relationship with BMA, working flexibly with them to tailor solutions specific to the needs of each operation.”
Both contracts will commence from December 2021.
