Acciona wins $258m hospital PPP project in Chile

Chile’s Ministry of Public Works has chosen Spanish a team led by contractor Acciona for a $258m public–private partnership hospital scheme in the north of the country, BNAmericas reports.
The company beat Iberian rival OHLA to the project, which is located in the Coquimbo region about 400km north of Santiago.
The 121,000 sq m healthcare complex, to be called La Serena, will have 668 beds and will serve a population of 700,000 people. Around the main building there will be 15 pavilions offering medical, dental and non-medical consultations.
Acciona Concesiones and its partner, Concesiones Chile Holdings, will build the hospital and operate it for 15 years.
The project is expected to break ground in the first half of 2023 and begin treating patients in 2026.
