Vestas turbines selected for 58-MW Aussie wind project

Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) will be the turbine supplier and installer for the 58-MW Crookwell 3 wind project in New South Wales, Australia.
The Danish wind turbine maker announced on Monday it has secured the contract from Global Power Generation (GPG), which is controlled by Spanish utility Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY).
Naturgy holds a 75% interest in GPG, with Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), Kuwait’s sovereign wealth fund, owning the rest.
Under the agreement, Vestas will supply and install 16 units of the V126-3.45 MW turbines in 3.6 MW operating mode. A 15-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement is also part of the contract.
Once in operation, Crookwell 3 should be able to generate enough electricity for around 40,000 homes.
Vestas expects to deliver the equipment in the second quarter of next year, aiming to bring the power plant online in the fourth quarter of 2022.
