Miami-Dade Metromover modernisation contract
2 July 2021
Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation & Public Works has awarded Alstom a $140m contract to modernise railway systems on the Metromover peoplemover.
This will include the supply of Cityflo 650 communications-based train control, and replacing or refurbishing the power distribution and SCADA systems and guideway turnouts.
The Miami-Dade Metromover opened in 1986 as the first urban application of the Westinghouse automated peoplemover technology, which is now part of the Alstom portfolio.
The Metromover has since been expanded and the vehicles replaced, but some of the major subsystems are now reaching the end of their design life.
