Ferrovial Awarded $84 million reconstruction of a section of I-37 in Texas

Ferrovial, via its US construction subsidiary Webber, was awarded the reconstruction contract for a portion of three miles of the I-37 in San Patricio County, Texas (United States). The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) selected the company to carry out the contract valued at $84 million (about €69 million).
The scope of the works includes the direct connectors at the intersection of I-37 and US 77. Additional auxiliary lanes will increase the capacity of the road in of the event of a hurricane or other emergency evacuation. Major work activities include demolition and construction of bridges over the Nueces River, I-37 North and a frontage road overpass. The scope of work also includes upgrades to the existing main lanes. The project is scheduled to last about 65 months with construction anticipated to begin in September 2021.

Webber is currently working on more than 40 projects in Texas and Georgia. The US subsidiary of Ferrovial was recently awarded the more than $1.5 billion I-35 Northeast Expansion (NEX) design-build project with sister company, Ferrovial Construction. Webber was also selected for the reconstruction of a section of I-35 in Texas for $81 million and the renovation and expansion of the FM 1960 highway in Houston for $70 million. Ferrovial Construction has been serving this market for 15 years and has built vital infrastructure, including LBJ Expressway in Dallas and segments of the SH 99 Grand Parkway in Houston.
