300,000 ton Polypropylene plant to be constructed in Nigeria

A contract has been signed for a 285,000 tonnes per annum polypropylene plant to be constructed in Nigeria as part of the proposed BUA Refinery & Petrochemical Project in Nigeria.
BUA Group is one of Africa’s largest conglomerates and the contract has been signed with Lummus Technology, a leading licensor of proprietary petrochemical, refining, gasification, and gas processing technologies, and a supplier of catalysts, proprietary equipment, and related engineering services
“We are very pleased to sign this Polypropylene contract for our BUA Refinery and Petrochemicals Project with Lummus Technology, a world leader in polypropylene solutions. The company will help solve the increasing demand for high-performance grade Polypropylene in this West African country, the Gulf of Guinea as well as the Sub-Saharan Africa Region at large.
We are confident in the capacity and technical expertise of Lummus Technology to deliver a best-in-class, 285KTA polypropylene unit for our refinery project, which is scheduled to come on stream in 2024,” commented Abdul Samad Rabiu, the Founder/Executive Chairman of BUA Group.
The first Novolen polypropylene unit in Nigeria
Lummus Technology’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Leon de Bruyn on the other hand said his company is looking forward to working with BUA Refinery on this critical project and supporting the first Novolen polypropylene unit in the Republic of Nigeria.
