Agreement for construction of Tshipuka solar PV power plant in the DRC

The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and its Egyptian counterpart have signed an agreement concerning the construction of the Tshipuka solar PV power plant in the central African country (DRC).
The agreement was signed by Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, the president of the DRC during a state visit to the North African Country.
The contractor of the project
The construction of the Tshipuka solar power plant, according to Mr. Michel Ngongo Salumu, has been entrusted through a special authorization (by mutual agreement) to a consortium formed by the Hassan Allam Construction, a subsidiary of -Egypt’s leading privately owned engineering, construction and infrastructure companies operating on a stand-alone basis, and , a consulting organization from Egypt involved in civil engineering, electrical engineering, energy, and procurement sectors.
Mr. Salumu is the general manager at the , a platform intended for contracting authorities, suppliers, and any other actor interested in public procurement in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Aim of the solar project
Located in the province of Kasai Oriental, the proposed 10 MWp Tshipuka photovoltaic solar power plant aims to solve the immediate electricity problems in the region, pending the construction of the dam and the Tshibasa hydroelectric power station, which will have a capacity of 50 MW.
The government of this Central African country has included the solar project in the framework of the Accelerated Presidential Programme for the fight against poverty and the reduction of inequalities launched by Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.
