Skanska, Balfour Beatty win $395m extra work for mystery client
15 November 2020
Swedish builder Skanska says its joint venture with Balfour Beatty has signed additional contracts with an existing client for improvements to its corporate office in the western United States, without identifying the client or the location.
Skanska and UK-headquartered Balfour Beatty will split the contract sum approximately evenly, with Skanska saying it would log $198m in its US order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2020.
Skanska said construction had already been underway for the client, with the project scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2023.
In June 2019, Skanska used similar language to report $171m of additional work for the joint venture on an unidentified “corporate campus in the western USA”.
Meanwhile, in July 2018, Microsoft Corp. announced that Skanska and Balfour Beatty were part of the consortium of architects and contractors selected to design and build almost 3 million square feet of new office space on 72 acres of its campus in Redmond, in the greater metropolitan area of Seattle.
This campus modernisation involves constructing 18 new buildings. At the time of the announcement it was scheduled to be complete in 2022.
